Weekends apart, but still big adventure

November 20, 2016 and Nov 27, 2016

Having won the Hits Triathalon in Grand Junction earlier in the year, Laura was off to California to race the National Championships Tri. Since we were now within a month of our upcoming Ecuador trip, I figured I would do some high altitude training.

Pikes Peak via Barr Trail
11 miles up, cog train down!!
Approx. 7,000 ft elevation gain
5 am start, 9:45 am summit

I felt good all day and was looking forward to being at 20,000 feet next month. It kept me positive and helped me to push. Happy to be able to move at this pace and still feel great!

That week, Ike and I headed to Moab and hung out with Laura and her mother. When we came home from Moab, I did my best to keep the altitude high, so me, Ike and Mike went ice climbing at Lincoln Falls, just down the street from the cabin and the next day we climbed Hoosier Ridge in 50mph winds! Good practice for the upcoming 20,000 foot volcanoes!
