Hide and Seek

Winter Camp Wash

Canyons are always a great time and since the weather is starting to warm up in the desert, we decided to get in a weekend canyon trip before the summertime heat hit. Laura, Hazel and I made a plan to meet Isaac, Nicole, Kayla and Taylor for a quick weekend near Moab. Meeting up Friday night, we found a good campsite and set up tents before climbing up nearby rocks and watching the daylight fade.

Saturday morning we ran Hide and Seek canyon. This was our first-time having Hazel on tandem rappel so we chose relatively easy canyons with straight forward rappels. Hide and Seek was fun and went by quickly as we all descended without issue.

The hike out was a bear and very hot. We made it back to camp in mid afternoon and relaxed while being eaten by nats. I cooked everyone a steak for dinner and along with a small campfire and a few beers, we all had a relaxing evening.

The next morning we chose a short canyon - Winter Camp Wash. The drop in rappel was awesome and the canyon was short. We were back at the car by 11am and after a short snack we all loaded up to make the 6 hour drive home. Just after getting on I 70, Isaac and Nicole got a flat tire. After making quick work of the change, we all headed to Fruita, had lunch and made the remaining of the drive home.
